HCC Online College offers convenient online academic programs in 3 popular Associate of Arts programs: Business, Multidisciplinary Studies, and Teaching.

 

How does the 1-N.O.W. Program work at HCC Online College?

The 1-N.O.W. Program is a 2-year structured, cohort-based degree plan offering students the opportunity to take only 1 class every five weeks. Your classes are asynchronous, meaning there are no set log-in times for classes. Study anytime, anywhere on a schedule that fits your lifestyle. Simply complete the lessons and exams as outlined weekly in each course according to the syllabus. An instructional support team is built into the program to provide academic and student support.

 

What are the admissions requirements for 1-N.O.W. Program?

This program is designed for first time college students needing to attend part-time and desire a structured program to complete their degree. Student must be college ready for Math and English, and meet general admission criteria for Houston Community College. Can I enroll if I live outside of the United States?

Can I enroll any time of year?

The 1-N.O.W. Program is a 2-year structured, cohort-based degree plan that currently starts each Fall semester.

 

When can I register for these courses?

Once you are enrolled in HCC and admitted to the program you will meet with your Pathway Advisor once each semester to register for all scheduled classes for that semester. 

 

When will I receive my textbooks or other study materials?

All of our courses use eBooks and online lessons. All course materials will be made available through Canvas, the HCC Online learning management system.

 

Is there an Instructional Team as part of the 1-N.O.W. Program?

Yes, the foundation of our approach to online education is an instructional team consisting of a highly qualified, dedicated staff of professionals. Each program brings together a tightly woven team of academic advisors, certified faculty, subject matter experts, course authors, and support staff working together to ensure our students achieve their goals and obtain the individual support needed to succeed.

 

Who do I call for academic assistance or study help?

In each course syllabus you will find how to contact your particular course instructor or faculty member for any specific help or support you require. Houston Community College provides a superb team of academic and student support services.

 

What if I am unsuccessful in a course or have to drop/withdrawal?

Failing a course does not end your academic progress in this program, nor does having to drop or withdraw from a course. You will have access to a great Instructional support team to assist you at every step to prevent failure. You are encouraged to work collaboratively with your instructor and advisor regarding course progression. Drops, withdraws and failures may require you to take an additional summer course or extend your completion by 1 or more semesters.

 

Can I handle online study? What makes a successful Online Learner?

Many students find online learning easier than sitting in a classroom. Free from the pressures of pop quizzes and class competition, you can study in a way that suits you best and take the time you need to understand your studies. For that reason, our curriculum is carefully designed to work with the schedules of adult students of all ages. Rest assured, our dedicated support team is available to assist you with your studies, time management, and any other challenges that may arise, as we guide you through your program to graduation.

 

What kind of computer equipment do I need to study online at HCC Online College?

HCC uses the Canvas learning management system (LMS), which we call Eagle Online. To access Eagle Online, you will need a PC (Windows 7 sp1 or better), or Mac (OS X 10.8 or better) with a broadband connection to the Internet.

 

Is the 1-N.O.W. Program and HCC Online College accredited?

Yes. Houston Community College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award associate and baccalaureate degrees. What are the graduation requirements for the 1-N.O.W. Program?

You must meet the following requirements to graduate from Houston Community College. Successfully complete 60 semester hours of credit for the AA degree with an earned grade point average of at least 2.0 (C average). You are required to meet all financial obligations by paying off your tuition balance in full. In order to apply for graduation, you have to meet with an Academic Advisor. Your Academic Advisor will determine if you have completed all the academic program requirements to apply for graduation. Approval from an Academic Advisor is required to apply for graduation.  

 

What is the total program tuition cost?
