Dr. Betty Fortune, interim associate vice chancellor for Student Retention and Completion at HCC, has been named the recipient of the prestigious Cynthia Ferrell Pathways Star of Excellence Award.

Houston Community College (HCC) student entrepreneur Talha Khan and director Ravi Brahmbhatt were awarded a $5,000 grant after being named one of six winning teams at the Ratcliff Skills for Trade Pitch Competition.

There was a moment when Felipe Riccio was a student in the Houston Community College (HCC) Culinary Arts program that he felt he was pursuing the wrong education path. Twelve years later, Riccio's, who is the chef of March restaurant in Houston, perseverance, labor and culinary skills have earned him the highly coveted MICHELIN Star rating. 

The Occupational Therapy Assistant students won first place in the Student Knowledge Challenge Bowl at a state conference on Nov. 15 and took home a $1,000 prize.

Eight finalists, all veterans or veteran-dependents, showcased their innovative business ideas in a recent virtual pitch competition, vying for a share of over $10,000 in cash prizes. The competition, a key component of the HCC Veterans Entrepreneurship Program, was a collaborative effort between HCC and the Houston Regional Veterans Chamber of Commerce.
