Houston Community College Viceroy Scholars Program now accepting applications

Are you a driven student with a passion for technology and community service? The Viceroy Scholars Program at Houston Community College is now accepting applications for the upcoming academic year! This prestigious program is designed to support and empower students in the fields of Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Engineering, Networking & Telecommunications and Computer Systems Networking.

Eligibility Requirements
To apply for the Viceroy Scholars Program, you must meet the following criteria:

  • U.S. Citizenship: Applicants must be U.S. citizens.
  • Academic Performance: Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Field of Study: Major in one of the following areas:
    Computer Science
    Cybersecurity
    Engineering
    Networking & Telecommunications
    Computer Systems Networking
  • Community Service: Document a significant amount of community service hours, demonstrating your commitment to giving back to the community.
  • Commitment to Service: Be committed to working in the Department of Defense (DoD) as either a DoD civilian in the cybersecurity field or as a commissioned officer in one of the military branches.


Application Process

  1. Complete the Application: Visit the Houston Community College Military Education website to access the online application form located at https://www.hccs.edu/military-education. 

  2. Submit Transcripts: Include your official transcripts showing a minimum GPA of 3.0.

  3. Community Service Documentation: Provide details of your community service hours and activities.

  4. Personal Statement: Write a personal statement explaining your interest in the Viceroy Scholars Program, your commitment to serving in the DoD, and how you plan to contribute to your community.

  5. Letters of Recommendation: Submit at minimum 3-letters of recommendations to support your application.

Application Deadline: April 3, 2025 at 3 p.m.
Notification of Acceptance: April 9, 2025
